Couple of commissions

Hi everybody, I know I have been very quiet recently, firstly I had my mum over and really didn’t stop with her around. She loves to help us make things, so we were sewing every free minute when my children didn’t need us. And once she was back home and I have recovered. I had several commissions I had to make.  So let me show you what I’ve been up to: Grandma's garden quilt

I am sometimes asked to quilt a quilt somebody has pieced, but it ended up so large, they don’t have the courage to take it under the machine. This one is exactly the case, it took around 3 years to hand piece this quilt which ended up 96″ / 2.3m square and the lady wanted to have it quilted in invisible thread, large scale stippling. Binding is pieced from all the leftovers. It’s been pleasure quilting this one, it’s always such a large responsibility to quilt a project someone has spend so long with. I’m trying to make it as fast as I can, so that it can soon return back to the owner.

Next commission was to make a quilt from a scratch, actually two identical quilts for guest bedroom. After talking together, we decided on this very simple design, which kind of seems to me little bit like a modern twist on an Amish Quilt. The quilting is very nice and effective, despite the fact the wobbly lines were bit too monotonous towards he end the final effect was definitely worth it.

And the last commission was probably my most favourite one. I just love dress making, quilting and love working with felt and making this jacket, was what it was all about. Top material is boiled wool, Olivier made the felt and I added lining and stitched it all together and covered the felt with lovely feathers. …

I really enjoy either helping others to finish their quilts or just making their dream of having a quilt to come true. Whether it’s a quilt for a friend or a customer, I really love working on either of them the same, I’m just really blessed and glad that I love my job!!!

Thank you for reading
