Open Studios start on Friday

Yes that’s right!! Open Studios are going to start this week on Friday. And that’s mostly why I have been so quiet. I have produced 9 new pieces – no actually WE have produced all of them. There will be very often my name, but Oli always did something for the piece … from felting or painting the background, or helping to stretch it, constructive criticism … to putting them all into the frame and making all the dinners!! I don’t know what I would do without him!!

This lovely pink and green felt, has been wet felted by Oli, little bit machine quilted and hand embroidered by me.

This time at the Open Studio I wanted to present myself as a textile artist and leave the quilter and all my quilts in the shop. Since we opened the shop I have met a lot of textile lovers and learned a lot of new techniques and ways to use fabric and thread. And mostly I rediscovered Embroidery. From quilting it’s just a step to the machine embroidery and hand embroidery is a great compliment to the machine work and the combination of both you can find at my Open Studio display – they are all framed and ready to hang.

I’m very exited – hoping to see you there

But also I’d like to update you on the progress with the Moonlit Garden. It has to be at the Festival of Quilts next Friday (26th August) so I finally started quilting it last Sunday. All 184 windows are closed, and today I can say all what’s left to quilt is the purple and dark blue on the sides. I’m very happy with the progress so far … so fingers crossed !! I’ll take a good pictures once it’s finished and before it’s posted!!

  1. Dear Vendulka – unfortunately will be missing our home grown talent at Open Art Studios this weekend as will be away at Art in Action at Waterperry. I do hope you will be ‘hanging’ what looks like fabulous art in your studio so that I can see it later.
